Blood donation
Blood donation is a voluntary process. Technically, you agree to donate blood so it can be given to someone who needs a blood transfusion. Every year, millions of people need blood transfusion some people need blood during surgery. Some people may need a blood transfusion after an accident, while others may have a disease that requires components in the blood.

In order to donate blood, you must meet the following conditions:

Being healthy
Being between the ages of 18-65 (The upper age limit is 60 for donors who will donate blood for the first time).

Being over 50 kilos.

Ability to undergo physical examination and health history assessments.

Risks
Donating blood is safe. Sterile and disposable materials are used for each donor when blood is drawn. For this reason, there is no risk of transmission of blood-transmissible infections in blood donation.
If you're a healthy adult, you can usually donate half a liter of blood without risking your health. 24 hours after donating blood, your body can replace the lost fluid. After a few weeks, your body will replace the lost red blood .

What can you expect?

Before donating blood, you will be asked to out a confidential form regarding your medical history. The form will also have direct questions about behaviors known to increase the risk of carrying blood-borne infections. All information information obtained in this evaluation is kept strictly confidential.

Because of the risk of disease transmission through blood, not everyone can donate blood. The following high-risk groups are generally not eligible to donate blood.

Persons who have used at least once in their life illegal drugs taken intravenously (intrave by a physician, or injecting drugs such as steroids not prescribed by a physician.
People who have taken clotting factor concentrate at least once in their lifetime.

Blood donation is when an individual voluntarily gives out blood, for the production of certain drugs or for the purpose of blood transfusion.
