Being healthy

Risks
Donating blood is safe. Sterile and disposable materials are used for each donor when blood is drawn. For this reason, there is no risk of transmission of blood-transmissible infections in blood donation.

Because of the risk of disease transmission through blood, not everyone can donate blood. The following high-risk groups are generally not eligible to donate blood.
Persons who have used at least once in their life illegal drugs taken intravenously (intrave by a physician, or injecting drugs such as steroids not prescribed by a physician.
People who have taken clotting factor concentrate at least once in their lifetime.
